Joining AFN

Are you interested in developing your skills in the field of gynaecology, and for supporting natural and assisted conception? Well, the AFN is for you! This is a member’s support network to bring together our practitioner strengths through study and exchange, and to promote integration of acupuncture.

How does the AFN work?

The AFN is structured as a networking alliance. This is a non-hierarchical special interest group, working to develop strong links within the acupuncture profession, to help promote integrated treatment, and to help the public to easily find practitioners with a special interest in this field.

The alliance is structured to support members through virtual contact via email and the AFN forum, and to promote professional links through ongoing contact at seminars and workshops.

Member Benefits

As an alliance the purpose of AFN is, through study and exchange, to assist members with:
• advice about aspects of practice
• exchange of articles and studies relating to fertility and gynaecology
• access and contribution to the AFN Forum
• exchange of material and ideas to support clients
• contacts and connections that promote the integrated use of acupuncture

Membership to the Acupuncture Fertility Network (AFN) indicates a special interest in the treatment of fertility with traditional acupuncture and presumes a commitment to ongoing study.

AFN has no affiliation with any particular individuals, colleges, clinics, or any businesses or organizations.

AFN members are not in any way limited from joining any other group, network, or affiliation.

Am I eligible to join AFN?

To be eligible you must have completed a 3-year course of study, and have a current membership to BAcC, ATCM or BMAS, or equivalent recognized body.

In addition there is a minimum requirement of at least 14 hours of post graduate integrated gynaecological seminar training.

Delegates from the First International Acupuncture Seminars for Fertility Parts 1 or 2 have completed this minimum requirement.

From June 2009 there will be a 14 hour course available through the Oxford Brookes Acupuncture MA course that will comply with the AFN integrated training requirements. This course will be repeated on an annual basis.

Any practitioner who has not done the above listed training but has equivalent experience and seminar hours may apply to become a member, and will be considered on a case by case merit.

AFN aims to be inclusive and to build a rich network of experiential exchange, while at the same time working to develop a baseline standard of training.
